THE Rangers Academy this season entered into an exciting new partnership with world-renowned Coerver Coaching and recently completed their first event at the club.

This winter, the Coerver® Coaching Youth Diploma 2 course came to Glasgow with 65 coaches from 11 different countries attending at Rangers Football Centre, Auchenhowie.

The course which gives coaches an insight into developing the Coerver® TEAM STYLE, was delivered by Coerver® Coaching co-founder Alfred Galustian and Charlie Cooke. During his 30+ year career Alfred has worked at 51 professional clubs and 18 national Federations around the world.

The coaches were taken through theory and practical sessions on developing the Coerver® Player and the Coerver® team, with a number of coaches attending from professional clubs and grassroots clubs along with Rangers Academy staff.

The coaches also took in a session delivered by Coerver® Scotland/Portugal Director Gordon Craig with the Academy U10 group.

Gordon said ‘We were delighted to bring the course to Scotland and to our Partner Club Rangers. The international interest shows the high regard Coerver® attracts globally.

“Everyone was blown away by the outstanding facilities at the Rangers Training Centre, we would like to pass on a huge thanks to Rangers for hosting and to their excellent U10 group for their fantastic work during the sessions.”

Craig Mulholland, Head of Academy said: “Our partnership with Coerver is developing as we had hoped.

“Learning for staff as well as players is a key part of the culture we are creating and the course will enable our Academy staff to review our own curriculum for the 8’s to 12’s age groups and utilise some of the new content and theory being developed by our friends at Coerver.

“We have excellent staff doing a great job in the Childrens Academy under the guidance of our Head of Children’s Programme, Jim McNee and this course is another new initiative undertaken by the Academy which continues the ongoing change and positive momentum towards achieving our ambitious plans.”
