Coerver® Coaching UK are delighted to announce that general on-line booking is now open for the new Play Like the Stars 1 v 1 coach education courses which will be taking place during November 2014.

This follows a priority booking window that was made exclusively available to previous attendees of the Coerver® Youth Diploma course and coaches that have registered their interest in attending the 2015 Youth Diploma course next summer.

Our new Play Like The Stars coach education course, in association with our global partner adidas® and our presenting partner FourFourTwo Performance will focus specifically on the topic of 1 v 1 and will provide attendees with our latest content in this most vital area of the game.

Four, 1-day courses will be delivered across the country at professional club training facilities with Birmingham City FC, Sheffield Wednesday FC, Millwall FC and Stoke City FC all hosting courses.

The courses will be delivered by Coerver® Coaching UK Director, Scott Wright (See above image – 2014 Youth Diploma – Fulham FC) who said “We are really looking forward to delivering our new Play Like The Stars course across the country next month. We have selected four areas of the country to host our courses which should be accessible within two hours of pretty much any part of the country so these are definitely our most accessible open coach education courses to date”.

“The topic we have chosen for our new course is 1 v 1 which is an absolutely crucial area of the modern game and is a teaching subject that we have championed for over 30 years. We have a vast amount of knowledge and resources within this topic area that we feel is vital for every coach of young players to know and understand”.

Scott added “Certainly from a personal point of view, this topic has had little to no coverage in any licensed coach education course that I have attended. When you consider this is an individual player quality that can really make the difference in the game with teams being ever more organised and difficult to break down, in my opinion 1 v 1 should form a key component of these courses, especially those that are aimed at coaches of young players but this doesn’t seem to be the case from my experience”.

“I’m sure that attendees of this course will find the content both useful and valuable to the development of the players that they work with, no matter the age or level of ability and they will leave the course with a good understanding of how to teach 1 v 1 from mastery to game effective use”.

Charlie George from the Coerver® Coaching West London Performance Academy based in Kingston, is the latest in a long line of players to benefit from the Coerver® Coaching Performance Academy programme in the UK and progress into the professional football academy system. Having spent over a year attending a variety of Coerver® Coaching training sessions, Charlie has joined one of the biggest clubs in the world, Chelsea Football Club.

Ian Dyer, Technical Director for Coerver® Coaching in West London said “The overall aim of our Performance Academy programme is to develop skilled, confident and creative players who, regardless of their ability level are able to enjoy training, improve their individual skills, and develop a better understanding of when and where these skills can be used effectively in games”.

Ian Dyer, says “The programme prides itself on providing the best possible environment for the players to learn and develop. The environment we aim to create is one where our players feel confident to try new things, continue to show a desire to improve, and perhaps most importantly, value their performance, character and work rate over winning”.

Dyer adds, “It is a unique programme as first of all, we focus on the technique of the individual player, and then develop them to be effective within the team game. We use Star Models such as Messi, Van Persie and Xavi during each session, to inspire players to be the best they can be!”.

Charlie joined the Performance Academy in Kingston in 2013, and has been attending weekly sessions as well as holiday courses, and training trips to places like St. Georges Park and Stoke City F.C. Charlie was selected from many young hopefuls by Chelsea following a trial period, participating in training and playing matches against many of the country’s top teams, he even traveled to Paris to take on PSG.

Ian Dyer said of Charlie. “Charlie is a great example of a player who has worked extremely hard and really improved his technical skills to be able to compete at professional academy level. To make the step up, from playing grassroots football to joining one of the country’s top academies, is an amazing achievement by Charlie”.

“He has benefited immensely from the Performance Academy environment. His attitude, work rate and commitment to the programme have been excellent throughout, and this is reflected in his development. Our training programme has not only given Charlie a solid technical foundation to build on, but also the understanding of transferring his skills into game situations, which is the basis of the modern day Coerver Coaching programme”.

Everyone at Coerver® Coaching UK wishes Charlie all the best with his exciting new challenge at Chelsea F.C. I’m sure if he continues to apply himself, like he has with us, he will do very well.
